Students not participating in snack time will be participating in extra centre time and will be kept away from students eating snacks.
Snack Guidelines:
- Snacks must be nut free / stay away from liquid foods that can spill like juice boxes or yogurt tubes/pouches
- Students can access snacks independently without assistance
- Please unpackage foods and put them in a Tupperware that your child can open without assistance. This guideline is in place to eliminate the risk of staff members potentially transmitting anything by touching the food and/or packaging of multiple children especially after they have already had a bite of something.
- Snack must be small so they can finish it in less than 10 minutes

- Health screening
- The province has removed health restrictions like mandatory isolation, but we will still be health screening and will ask children exhibiting symptoms to stay home until they feel better.
- Please refer to the Illness Policy in our Parent Handbook located here: jumpstartlearning.ca/registrationpackage/parent-handbook
- Classroom App
Please wait for the email and/or text invitation to sign up for our classroom app, Brightwheel. If you have not used the app with us in the past, an email or text invitation will be sent to you to join prior to the start date.
Please note that you may be used to receiving daily photo updates during our regular program, these daily updates will not be sent during our Summer Program. The app will be used to communicate with the classroom teacher, send out announcements, and most importantly track attendance for licensing regulations.
Teachers will give it their best effort to send some group photos to the entire class, but anything individualized will likely not occur. The summer program is a very hands-on program with lots of things going in a condensed period of time.
It is also the first time many kiddos are in school so the classroom teacher’s priority will be giving attention to all the kiddos as much as possible and not be distracted by the classroom device. Teachers will still be checking for messages.
Another major difference about the summer program is that each class is extended by half an hour, the regular program allows a little more time for the daily updates.
- Daycare Pickup/Dropoff
- If your child is attending a daycare within walking distance, pickup/dropff may be available. In this case, you would need to add our staff to your child’s authorized pickup list at the daycare and/or give us the names of the daycare staff to add to our authorized pick up list. Contact us at info@jumpstartlearning.ca to arrange this.
